An excursion into history on the topic: „HOLODOMOR“ in Ukraine!

Citizens‘ initiative for peace in Ukraine

(See also: Andrea Schön: Historical Lies: Foundations of Anti-„Stalinism“ at the end of the article)

The West Ukrainian nationalists, including the current President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, like to refer to the severe famine of 1931-1932 in the Soviet Union and call it „Holodomor“.
They accuse the Soviet Union of the famine catastrophe targeted „killing by starvation“ against Ukrainians – i.e. the accusation of a targeted „genocide policy“ or „genocide“!
Serious allegations !!! what’s up Let’s work this out!
Poroshenko wrote yesterday in his Twitter account: “ Holodomor
( Link: https://twitter.com/PoroshenkoEng )

(Where Poroshenko saw „democratic“ states in Europe at the time 1931-1932 – everyone can think about it! There were practically none in the period!)

The western Ukrainian nationalists and „free“ western scientists from Great Britain, Canada and the USA estimate the dead of the great famine of 1931-1932 at 2.4 million – 7.5 million people ( mind you, and how could it be otherwise, everything „Scientists“ from Ukraine, Great Britain, Canada and the USA )
With this they want to blame the state „Soviet Union“ for all tragedies and catastrophes, blacken it historically and thus let it go down in history as an „unjust state“ – of course quite unselfish as you know them!
The fact is that there was a famine in the Soviet Union in 1931-1932 – but this did not happen „specifically“ against the Ukrainians within Ukraine, but nationwide!
The main reason was probably the persistent and extreme drought, which caused very large crop failures and the supplies were too small to supply everyone!
Other experts and historians say that it was probably a sad mixture of mistakes in forced collectivization, bad planning, severe crop failures due to freak weather and the serious consequences of the global economic crisis that was going on around the world in those years – which was triggered in the USA with the „Great Depression“. !
Noted:Russia is playing with open cards! The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has disclosed all documents and decrees from the 1930-1934 archives and made them freely available to the public, so that any scientist or historian can work with them and there is no longer any speculation/accusations: http://www.idd.mid.ru /inf/inf_06.html

Analysis & Arguments

We will now come to refute these accusations with historical facts and arguments!

Argument 1

The great famine in the Soviet Union was 1931-1932. Western Ukraine and the so-called “Galicia”, including the western Ukrainian city of Lvov ( Lemberg ) only became part of the Soviet Union on September 17, 1939! Before that, Western Ukraine was part of Poland – the so-called Eastern Poland, and before that it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy!
So find the first ERROR in the arguments of West Ukrainian nationalists blaming the Soviet Union! Can they count at all?
They like to blame the Soviet Union – even though they were part of Poland at the time and not the Soviet Union! Thus, during the great hunger of 1931-1932, the Soviet Union was not at all responsible for „Western Ukraine“ – it was a different country, a part of Poland!
This shows quite simply that the western Ukrainian nationalists, who like to blame the Soviet Union, have absolutely no knowledge of history! They believe their propaganda unconditionally and interpret the story as they need it to maintain their „enemy image“!

You can read about it in history books or here:

Example of propaganda of West Ukrainian nationalists on the topic of “Holodomor”
http://m-milosskaya.livejournal.com/8654.html

( Here a blogger dissects the appearance/presentation of the so-called Ukrainian “Holodomor” museum in Kiev! He shows that the images of suffering and famine shown there have nothing to do with Ukraine – there are images of people in need and starving Americans from the „Great Depression“ era! They are passed off as images of starving Ukrainians who were starved to death by the Soviet Union! All images were taken from the US site www.shorpy.com ! That ’s how it goes propaganda!)

Argument 2

One must also classify the following historically: The great famine of 1931-1932 was everywhere! ( Photo No.3//An archive picture from 1933 )
Distributed everywhere in the Soviet Union, including Russia as well as in Eastern Ukraine, or even the Siberian part of the Soviet Union!
However, the western Ukrainian nationalists absolutely want to exploit this general catastrophe for the benefit of Ukraine alone in order to present themselves to the world as the sole victim of a very special „Holocaust“ called „Holodomor“!
Others, in turn, criticize the term „Holodomor“ because it is specifically used by nationalist Ukrainians to politically exploit the tragic consequences of collectivization and starvation beyond Ukraine for their own nationalist purposes. Furthermore, it is pointed out that the famine of that time did not only affect the Ukraine, but also other areas of the Soviet Union, so it was not specifically „organized“ against the population of Ukraine!
But all this would not be fair and not sincere towards all other starving people and nations, distributed all over the world, during these difficult years! Everyone starved or had to starve!
You are now wondering why „distributed in the world“?

Argument 3

Do we remember what was happening in the world at that time? Exactly! The „Great Depression“ of 1929-1941! The „Great Depression“ was a severe economic crisis in the United States that began on October 24, 1929 with „Black Thursday“ and dominated the 1930s. It was part or origin of the global economic crisis! A Great Depression! Which spread all over the world. There is scientific and statistical evidence that the US lost approximately 8,553,000 US citizens during the „Great Depression“! Where have these people gone? Quite clearly: some have migrated, and a large part will have died in the vastness of America, whether from starvation or freezing or something else! Very sad!
Ask: For example, is the “Great Depression” viewed or labeled as some sort of “genocide” or “Holocaust” by Western “scientists” or historians? Hardly, right? Why, then, are the same „scientists“ from Britain and the US trying to portray the Soviet Union as some kind of „killing machine“ – and pontificating or pinning a deliberate „starvation“ of the 1931-1932s when their own states were experiencing a severe Great Depression at the same time and at the same time millions of their own citizens had to starve to death in their countries?
On the edge:Oh yes – and despite the deaths of millions of poor Americans in the USA during the „Great Depression“, around 80 million other Americans continued to go to cinemas and theaters at the same time – for example in 1933 also to Merian C. Cooper’s – Premiere of „King Kong“! A strange but arguably telling example of the „double standards“ of capitalist societies!
Back to the Soviet Union: Yes, there was a severe famine in the Soviet Union in 1931-1932 that killed millions! But it was not a targeted and controlled „starvation“ specifically of the Ukrainians within the Soviet borders, but a terrible famine that hit all parts of the country just as badly !!! And Western Ukraine was not part of the Soviet Union at all at that time!
To classify one and the other historically: There was a parallel crisis worldwide – a global economic crisis – in Central Europe, in the USA, in Eastern Europe and in the Soviet Union – with equally severe or at least similar losses in human life ! It was also the difficult time, shortly after the First World War – one shouldn’t forget that either!

New Deal: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Deal

Info was on the topic at Wikipedia: http://www.infowars.com/researcher-famine-killed-7-million-in-us-during-great-depression/

( A Russian researcher has uncovered and been able to prove with facts/statistics that the USA lost around 8.553 million US citizens during the „Great Depression“ in the period from 1931-1940 – up to 7 million of them probably through death due to the severe Economic crisis!
But Wikipedia deleted the research results of this researcher, and other figures on the dead during the „Great Depression“, as if nothing would ever happen – but Wikipedia left the information about the Soviet „Holodomor“ catastrophe! If you want the history of the Whitewash the USA and cover up the dark part of US history? Is there a deliberate distortion of history?
)

Argument 4

The Ukrainian population within the USSR ( Ukrainian Soviet Republic / Ukrainian SSR ) has increased from 30,652,000 to a total of 32,689,000 citizens in the years 1930-1934! A verifiable population increase of 2,037,000 people, ie ~ 6.65% !!! Many other states can only dream of this, even without „famine“, without „glossing over“ the famine of 1931-1932 in any way!!! If you look at the population growth of the Ukrainian SSR a little further and look at the period 1930-1939 – the Ukrainian population increased from 30,652,000 ( 1930 ) to 35,397,000 people in 1939! An increase of 4,745,000 people, ie ~ 15.50% !!! These are the facts!!!

( Source: Ptoukha M. La population de l`Ukraine jusqu`en 1960//XIX session de l`Institute International de Statistique;. Tokyo 1930 La Haye 1930, as well as under Wikipedia for „Holodomor“ in Russian, and then under the point „Demograficheskie poteri Ukrainsky Soviet Union in May 1927-1938“)

The hunger catastrophe of 1931-1932 should by no means be „dressed up“ with the statistics quoted above and the available facts of population growth in the Ukraine (Ukrainian SSR )! It was there, and millions of people died nationwide in the Soviet Union – many of them also in the Ukraine! That was, is and will be an unpredictable national catastrophe! An unbearable suffering!
HOWEVER , one cannot speak at all of any „targeted“ and „organized“ killing of the Ukrainians through starvation in the Soviet Union! Please note!

Other interesting links and information about the “Holodomor”:

1.) Links to the „Holodomor“ can also be found on Wikipedia – It must be said that the Russian version of the article is much more precise, much better documented and explained!
Unfortunately, the German, American and Ukrainian versions of Wikipedia are being unilaterally defamed by some “scientists” and historians from Western Ukraine, Canada, Great Britain and the USA – too bad!

2.) https://twitter.com/NadezhdaAle/status/536286306972999681
(Berlin: 5 regions of poland has terrible starvation (1932 west ‎Ukraine ) ‎holodomor or starvation in reality?)

3.) Photos 1+2: The following book on the subject of the global economic crisis and the hunger crises worldwide by 3 German authors is recommended – the book by Jan-Otmar Hesse, Roman Köster and Werner Plumpe: „The Great Depression – The World Economic Crisis 1929-1939 ″
On photo 2 of this analysis you can see the chapter overview from this book! And what do you see there? Exactly, the individual crises in the individual countries at this time! So it was not a special or separate problem of the Soviet Union, or the evil „Communists“, or „murderous“ Stalinism – but a worldwide problem! A global economic crisis!

4.) Photo-3 shows the map of the Soviet Union during the great famine of 1931-1932 – there you can see the distribution of the famine over the entire Soviet Union, almost to all parts of the country! Thus, it was not a sole and specific famine for the Ukrainians, but for all peoples and states in the Union of the Soviet Union!

5.) Photos 4,5,6,7 and 8 show people in need and hunger marches ( protests ) during the „Great Depression“ in the USA!

6.) Photo-10 shows a memorial of the „Holodomor“ 1931-1932 ( for western Ukraine ) in the western Ukrainian city of Lvov – We have shown that western Ukraine 1931-1932 was not part of the Soviet Union at all, but part of Poland ( eastern Poland )!

7.) Poroshenko’s „tweet“ on the subject of „Holodomor“. In doing so, one must honestly state that Poroshenko’s statement that „if Ukraine were democratic at the time, everything would be fine“ is more than history-distorting! Because at the time 1931-1932 there were practically no true „democracies“ in Europe! Where did he see any?

8th.) William Hearst laid the foundation for this myth about the „Holodomor“ with his Yellow Press magazine „Chicago American“. There, on February 8, 1935, a campaign entitled: „6 million people die of hunger in the Soviet Union“ began.

Hearst was a friend of Hitler’s who, since visiting him in 1934, had pursued a Nazi-glorifying, strictly anti-Soviet course. Hermann Goering also published articles in Hearst’s media. Hearst got his “data” directly from Nazi Germany, from the Gestapo.

With the reference to „Holodomor“ one quotes Hitler’s propaganda directly.

9) What took place was a class struggle between the poor landless peasants fighting for collectivization for kolkhozes and the rich landowners/kulaks. This struggle, directly and indirectly affecting 120 million farmers, created instability in food production and led to food shortages in some regions. The lack of food weakened the people, who were more likely to fall victim to epidemics, which were still common in this period.

Let’s remember the „Spanish flu“ that killed over 20 million people in Europe and the USA between 1918 and 1920! Does anyone think of accusing the governments of these countries of “genocide” for this?

The situation today?
Why dig into history when today millions of people starve to death in our world every year – while the other part of the world rejoices or argues about a new iPhone model!

World hunger news: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welthunger

According to the World Food Program of the United Nations ( WFP ), around 870 million people worldwide suffer from hunger, ie about one in eight of us ( 12% )! About 8.8 million people die of hunger every year, which corresponds to one death every 3 seconds ( as of 2007 )! This is madness! This is beyond sad! This is an ongoing DISASTER!

Photos 1+2: We recommend the following book on the subject of the global economic crisis and the hunger crises worldwide by 3 German authors – the book by Jan-Otmar Hesse, Roman Köster and Werner Plumpe: „The Great Depression – The World Economic Crisis 1929-1939“.

Andrea Schön: Historical Lies: Foundations of Anti-„Stalinism“

Nazi launch victim legend

Before examining the uncovered statistical data in more detail, let’s take a quick look at how the legend of the victim came about.
As already announced in 1925 in Hitler’s „Mein Kampf“, the Ukraine was regarded as the „granary“ for the „people without space“ and thus as one of the most important war targets of German fascism in the East. In order to prepare for the military campaign through propaganda, Göbbels launched a smear campaign against the Bolsheviks in the Ukraine, who allegedly handed over their people to a catastrophic famine deliberately provoked by Stalin. However, the campaign proved to be all too transparent with regard to the fascist war aims behind it.
However, support came from William Hearst, the founder of the tabloid press in the USA, who in the 1940s owned 25 daily newspapers, 24 weeklies, 12 radio stations, one of the first television stations and 2 news agencies. Newspapers had a combined daily circulation of 13 million and were read by a third of the adult population in the United States. In 1934, the ultra-conservative nationalist and anti-Communist Hearst was received by Hitler as a guest and friend. After this visit, Hearst’s newspapers were suddenly full of horror stories about the Soviet Union – from alleged genocide to cases of slavery, a luxurious leadership, etc. The material was supplied by the Gestapo.
One of the first campaigns was the one about the Ukrainian famine that said: “6 Million People Are Starving in the Soviet Union,” headlined the Chicago American on February 18, 1935, launching reports that it had been deliberately brought about by the Bolsheviks. (By the way, the hired scribe called himself Thomas Walker, a supposedly well-travelled journalist who had criss-crossed the Soviet Union for years. We’ll get back to him.)
In fact, we know that the beginning of the 1930s was marked by fierce class struggles in the countryside: poor, landless peasants revolted against the kulaks, rich landowners, to enforce the formation of kolkhozes (cooperatives).A large proportion of the kulaks, for their part, tried to prevent their huge private ownership of land and agricultural tools from being brought into the collective farm economy – by slaughtering their cattle, through sabotage actions or by deliberately infiltrating the collective farms. A total of 120 million peasants were involved in these fierce class struggles. The party had the extremely difficult task of directing the mass movement to dispossess the kulaks in an orderly manner and at the same time fundamentally solving the land question as a class question (ie enforce the expropriation of the kulaks). In particular, the clashes with right-wing nationalists in Ukraine led to severe food shortages. But it was precisely this reactionary clique that supported the Nazis in their genocide of the Jews during the occupation and, in exile in the US after the Second World War, cynically started the story of the “Ukrainian Holocaust”, which also added to the number of victims of the Jews corresponded to: 6 million (cf. Martens, p. 129 ff).
